WHAT IS THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY in PERSUASION?

Persuasion is a central strategy for marketing professionals in stimulating consumers existing desire or to create new desire to purchase a product. Talented persuaders can also attract buyers away from other sellers in the market. Persuasive messaging has been a key area of research in psychology and cognitive sciences for over a century. Today, new digital and immersive technologies have enabled individualized, interactive, and social communication at a massive scale. A picture on Instagram or a short video on YouTube can have the same persuasive effect as a multi-million-dollar TV commercial. Persuasive technologies are now in the hands of the masses.

“Facts, are stubborn things" as Joh Adams put it, but our minds and our emotions are even more stubborn. Learners, although focused are still driven 95% of the time by their subconscious mind, and a subconscious mind follows no logic.

Because people choose emotionally and justify logically. We have neglected persuasive approaches in education and training. It is time to immersive learners in experiences which appeal to all their senses...
